In 2023, Katherine completed her multi-year, inter-active, embroidered sculpture titled: Big Tree Collection. This is her most complex 3-dimensional work, bringing together 71 tree images in a variety of media that she generated as explorations during her 45-year artistic career. The completed sculpture is approximately 15-feet long and 4-feet wide when open for display.
Watch Katherine partially unfold the Big Tree Collection in her studio (3:31 minutes).

"On February 20, 2021, I began a quest throughout my studio, to determine the date of tree images on page 20 in my 'Big Tree Collection' inter-active sculpture (in-progress). It became a journey down memory lane. The slideshow directly below documents "descendents" of my plein air graphite drawing "Mohawk Valley (at the Clio turn) W.S.Sprgs.", that I created on June 13, 1984, in Plumas County, California. We were in the midst of transferring from Nevada City to Sierraville, and temporarily renting a cabin at White Sulphur Springs ranch, which has beautiful views to draw. Each slide in this group has descriptive info; slides 6 and 10 through 14 are now images in the 'BTC'. The poor quality of some images in the slideshow is due to transferring decades-old photos to digital format." KLC
